Can I still take this course if I am not an active CNA in GA?

No, you must hold an active CNA certification in the state of Georgia at the time of enrollment to qualify for the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course.

How do I check the CMA registry to see if I am still active?

After allowing 30 days post-completion, check your CMA status at mmis.georgia.gov.
Steps:

  1. Do not log in
  2. Click “Nurse/Medication Aide”
  3. Select “Certified Medication Aide”
  4. Choose “Search for Medication Aide”
  5. Search using your Social Security Number first, or try your full name

Note: You will not receive a mailed confirmation, so be sure to check online.

How do I pay my state renewal fee?

To renew your Certified Medication Aide license in Georgia:

  1. Go to mmis.georgia.gov
  2. Click “Nurse/Medication Aide” (don’t log in)
  3. Select “Certified Medication Aide”
  4. Click “CMA Online Renewal Form” and complete it
  5. Pay the $27 renewal fee by selecting “CMA payment by Credit/Debit Card”, and choose “Renewal” under the type of payment.

Do I have to take the course and pay again if my certification expires?

  • Yes, per the State of GA, your Medication Aide certification (CMA) will expire when your Nursing Aide certification (CNA) expires. Once your CMA expires, you will have to pay in full and repeat the course. If your CNA expires, your CMA will become inactive.
  • Be sure to keep your address updated with the state; they will send out renewal warnings a few months before your expiration date via mail.
